I was fortunate to receive Itty Bitty Scrap Shack’s (IBSS) April 2008 “Window Box” scrapbooking kit to review on behalf of ScrapShanty.com.

April 2008 “Window Box” Kit:
IBSS April 08 Kit

Fancy Pants Crush Line (6 double-sided patterns)
3 sheets of Bazzill In Stitch’z cardstock
2 colors of embroidery floss w/needle
1 package of letter tiles
1 set of *custom* made buttons from Kitty Robot at Etsy
1 *custom* transparency
Petaloo Flowers
2 white tags
Heidi Swapp Bling
Clipboard to alter

Here’s a little info about IttyBittyScrapShack.com monthly kits from the site’s home page:

What we do: Make the very best Scrapbooking and Card Kits on the planet.

How we do it: We include FULL lines of patterned paper in our scrapbooking kits! We don’t decide which ones you might like, we give ’em all to you along with custom, (shhhh…sometimes funky), embellies and alterable items. Our Card Kits are formulated by card makers and offer a completely different collection of yummies every month. Both kits are 12×12, you might just need both!

And, of course, you can find info about IBSS’s kit club subscriptions by following this link.

IBSS is a new player in subscription kit clubs making their debut with their February 2008 scrapbooking kit.  The card kit is making it’s debut this month.

The Review
Of course, as mentioned above, IBSS scrapbooking kits feature a full line of pattern papers from a single manufacturer.  This type of kit is always nice since it allows you the greatest flexibility.  You can do individual LOs or you have the choice of doing a mini album or other project and will have enough coordinated pattern paper to meet your needs.

I have to give IBSS kudos for several things that differentiate this kit in my opinion:

1.  Every IBSS scrapbooking kit includes an alterable item.  My kit included a full size clipboard to alter.  This is a nice deviation and something most kit clubs don’t include.

2.  My kit came with embroidery floss, but best of all IBSS thought to include a needle.  It’s little touches like this that make a big difference when you shop kit clubs.

3.  My kit also included 5 handmade buttons from kittyrobot.etsy.com.  I love that IBSS is supporting an individual’s craft!

4.  Finally, my kit came with an 8.5×11 custom transparency doodled and designed by fellow Shanty DT member, Bethany {Verro}.  Congrats, Bethany!  Also, be sure to check out the April 2008 Card Kit at IBSS where you will find an acrylic stamp designed by Bethany {Verro}.  Big kudos to IBSS for including a custom item in the April kits!

Seriously, check out the IttyBittyScrapShack.com kits and site.  IBSS has a gallery, message board, blog – it’s all there.  IBSS may be a new kit club player, but they’ve got their game on!

OK, are you ready to see what I did with this kit?  In almost no time, I created three LOs and they came together quickly since I was working with a nicely coordinated kit.

Pink Phone

Pink Phone

I cut out the heart from the custom transparency and used it on this LO.  I also used several of the kittyrobot.etsy.com buttons – they reminded me of little bug eyes peeking out among the flowers.  You’ll also see that I used the letter tiles on this LO.

On this LO, I stitched one of the flowers on the Bazzill In Stitch’z cardstock and then cut it out and applied it as an embellishment.  I also used some of the Heidi Swapp bling.

On this LO, you’ll see that I backed the pink Bazzill In Stitch’z cardstock with yellow cardstock to show off the punched design.  I also used several of the Petaloo flowers from the kit.

I had fun creating with this kit and the special items included in the kit.  It’s definitely worth your time to check out IBSS and their kit offerings.
